I’ve used Emacs, I mean GnuEmacs, as editor exclusively since 2001. Before that I used XEmacs since about 1995, and before that (since around 1989) I used to use MicroEmacs on a Commodore AMIGA, occasionally.

When possible, I program in CommonLisp these days. I use SlimeMode as Lisp IDE, and I have made some minor contributions as well.

I am interested in having Emacs support bidi. Actually I am running the emacs-bidi branch for some time now. I do not use it too often, though.

I try to automate recurring tasks during editing, here are some macros which I bound to convenient keys:

I like this behavior more than the default. Cursor is placed inside the parentheses, so I can mark expressions by repeatedly pressing C-SPC and then ( to enclose the whole block with parentheses. Fitting right in there is the following mwe:up-list-or-insert, which I have bound to ).

I have my own filling functions, which I use instead of the default, whenever I edit text which is put into a versioning system like CVS or RCS. I also try to persuade my co-writers to do the same. Diffs are much more readable, if the real change is not drowned in tons of merely refilled paragraphs.
